Let’s Make Zines!

Let’s Make Zines!

Zines (pronounced “zeens”) are self-published, small magazines that may seem simple at first, but can be a powerful way to inspire students to share their ideas and their unique voice.

What Do Your Students Have to Say?

From A to Zine offers educators everything needed to use zines in the classroom:

What’s a Zine?

Zines are self-published one-of-a-kind magazines that can be about any topic imaginable.

They can take the form of booklets or pamphlets and can be stapled, glued or sewn together. Zines often include both text and artwork, but can be exclusively visual art or text. With zines, the sky is the limit and there’s no wrong way to make a zine!

Why Use Zines in the Classroom?

Zines invite students to express themselves while also challenging them to communicate through text and imagery.

Zines are an exceptional outlet for self-expression and creativity, but they can also help students deepen their learning and understanding of a topic; hone communication skills through both text and imagery; and develop social emotional skills.
